A moment on Naval Hill

Man

Tough times, look at the gods, no love
Bad weather and bad crops,
Hungry children and a sad wife
Working harder than I can.

Watching the horizon every night,
Watching for clouds or night attacks,
Waiting for life or death, i pray –
My heart, it’s sinking every night

King

Is that so? Now listen up:
I’m the king of a good kingdom;
I hear your pains, my kingdom’s safe.
Save the toil, you can live with me.

Man

My thanks to you. What you want with me?

King

I’ll provide you food and fire.

Man

That’s kind, but I’ll decline.

King

We’ll eat..

Man

…So you say?

King

And drink …

Man

…So you say?

King

Not one fear in world:
We’ll be relaxed.
Leave your spade in field
and your axe by the door.

Man

Maybe I will but not right now.

Spirit

Come with me and we’ll have much more,
This life’s too short for all that pain.
Try my food my women made,
Think about it, son, think some more.

Man

Aye, I am a fine strong man, that’s for sure
but the offer you make, maybe I’ll take.
These tough times, they don’t stop
But your food, your fire, I need it more.

King

I think that’s so. My warm food you ate,
And my good drink you drank
And now I know you’ll walk for days
So that you can have some more

Why walk when you can stay with me
We’ll eat some more,
so much, we’ll sleep free till dawn!

Man

I want that warm and fatty food
That pure clear drink that made me drunk
My troubles gone my heart at rest
My wife content, my children safe.

Spirit

Now give what you have you’ll get more
I’ll show you your visions and power
This land is ours,
Ours to keep
And this, our energy for us to use
and our chance to shape our future
out of nothing, something great.

I am the one who plants your dreams
Feeds your power.
I’ll see you your visions from within
I am the energy and the power.

I am the one to ensure your head stays high
Above the animal world,
Above the knees of others.

Yes, I am your future, waiting to break through in you
A future you always wanted.

You will see you and you will be that, thanks to me.

Man

More and more, I have less to give,
I’ve given it all but i’ll give you more.
Gladly spilled my sweat and blood.
I have spilled it all for years to come
And yet, my grandsons will know no rest from you.

They will spill too but never know.
My future defined and my being refined.
OF what I could chose to become,
I have chosen now and now I will become.
