I remember being down by the beach till late. Tossing wet pebbles at the pink buoys, charging into the late day’s dark blue water, and splashing wildly to ignore the cold. The summer sun hanging in the sky for a few extra hours than otherwise. Whitewashed houses looked warm for a bit longer. The golden […]
Category: Works
There is no substitute for ‘doing’. Refining old skills and developing new ones can only be achieved through work. Trust in the quality of the work and allow it space to speak for itself. Go. Do.
A few days ago I went for a walk and I stopped by a pond and watched some koi fish. I was so intrigued by them, that I was felt prompted to remark how I could well understand why the Japanese culture revered them so much. Those ink paintings and wood prints and even the […]
Take anything
Very soon one or both of my grandparents will pass away. I went over to Germany to spend time with them. Since they are both in care homes, I stayed in their flat. I visied them during the day. We talked about nice memories. I told them that I might never see them again. As […]
I let my mind drift. As I lay with my head on you, Listening to the calm heart beat. Relax. So many things to do and things I want to do. Relax. But I have such limited time. Relax. I lift my head, unsure – And suddenly noticed how quiet the world was. I could […]
Dream quest for a guide
I dreamt that I was snorkeling and beneath me were some sharks. I was wasn’t too afraid of them and dived down beyond the level of the sharks, deeper until I came to a ledge near the sandy seabed. I swam underneath the ledge and arrived into a large chamber where I could breathe. Someone […]
Summer solstice
It is the longest day of the year. I stood by the river, between two trees. Between two days. Between two seasons. Nature knew, and an invisible layer of magnetic pollen Hovered above the grass, hazily Lazily reverberating between the branches and leaves above. And I looked around: Where is everyone? They’ve missed it? An ancient […]
Channel of light
A channel of light shines through the window onto the floorboards. Gladly, I have moved the armchair to sit in the sun with my feet on the Kashmir cushions. The radio’s on, playing Classical. The host mentioned Mozart, his voice strained above clapping in a hall. Must be the proms. Luckily, I will enjoy this […]
Midsummer moonlight
Overlooking the river, I spent the evening drinking a beer and writing in my notebook, at times staring at the white and yellow spots of dancing light on the dark green river. The yellow light came from the late sunset sky behind the thick hedges full of little creatures tip-toeing about between brambles. A little […]
The puzzle
It was a warm late summer’s day and I was upset, dismayed and lost. I felt overwhelmed and lay on the sofa, overlooking the evening sun set on the street outside. I suddenly became very tired. I rested my head on the sofa arm and I slipped into a half sleep state when the following […]
Within one breath
I lay on the sofa and wondered what to do. I reached over and I opened the window. The air flowed down to me. I inhaled and sensed. Cooled sunset air from a bright day. Pollen of an English, soft leaved foliage. Ash from one last chimney fire. Gravy of the first dish served on a picnic table. Within one breath the season has changed.
