Ackroyd’s Britain

Capturing Britain in metal etchings

I was inspired when I watched the documentary about Norman Ackroyd on ‘What do Artist’s do all day’.

I was living abroad and felt very nostalgic for the rough wintery British coastlines.

There’s something raw about the medium he uses – etched metal, splashed with ink then pressed onto rough paper. His scenes are rock, water. Waves crashing against the cliffs. From every angle of the British Isles.

Like many atists he only works in the morning, starting early whilst the mind is fresh. What does he do all day? He’s busy! It takes a lot of time making such work.
